The Roosevelt Fiddlers joined up with the Chouteau Fiddlers and made a mass presentation of some excellent fiddling skills on Saturday evening. Performing before an audience of about 400 area bluegrass lovers, the group turned more then a few heads when the curtains opened to exhibit a stage full of young fiddlers performing the likes of Bob Wills and some traditional pioneer hoedowns. I didn't have a chance to count but I think we had upwards of 40+ fiddlers flanked by the supporting staff of an upright bass and two rhythm guitars.

The Oklahoma Trading Post Fiddlers performed for nearly 45 minutes before the finale of Boil'em Cabbage and Rubber Dolly. Because the Chouteau Trading Post had had their fiddles for only a few weeks at the time of the concert, we allowed the Roosevelt Trading Post to start off the medley but then we dropped a bombshell on the crowd when we rolled back into Boil 'em Cabbage and the Chouteau Fiddlers joined in to create a full chorus effect and a volume boost that just filled the hall.

Afterwards many of the young fiddlers stayed on to jam with the big guys of the GCBA. Some even stayed until the GCBA shut down! That is precisely the reason why we were so excited when the GCBA made the offer for us to open up and why we will make every effort to be there again. There was talk about us being back sometime in the Spring to exhibit the progress 6 onths can do for these young fiddlers. I can't wait.

I am hoping someone was there taking pictures as I have yet to find any and didn't get a chance myself. If you know of any please e-mail them to me (see "Contact Us" for address). Thanks ahead of time!
